Glenmere Mansion - Chester New York

I can’t believe that this place was hidden right under my nose. I spent the first 18 years of my life within 15 minutes of what hotel critiquing website Gayot.com has named to be within the top 10 boutique hotels in the world. Located in the heart of the Hudson Valley in Chester New York is the newly renovated Glenmere Mansion.

Glenmere Mansion is located only 50 miles away from New York City. While it used to be a stop of the aristocracy of years ago the newly renovated estate has its guests swearing they were in the Italian country side. Regardless of the fact that there are only 18 guest accommodations (suites and private rooms) Glenmere Mansion is set on 150 acres. On these 150 acres are golf courses, luxury spas, croquet courts, and a large outdoor heated pool.

After you take your private elevator up to the penthouse, which is perched on top of the estate featuring views of the Hudson, a living room, your own private terrace and three fire places. One of these fire places is in the master bathroom. The service in this suite is so great that a private chef can be arranged for your stay.
Luxury this great goes at a rate of the smallest rooms at $550 a night. The penthouse sweet mentioned above goes for the pretty penny of $3,500 for your first night stay. Additionally the Glenmere mansion is available for rental for the entire estate. Depending on the season this goes for $25,000 - $45,000 a night depending on season and availability.

Luckily the two restaurants on the grounds are open to the public. However even if you want a hamburger ($16,) make sure you have reservations or you will be turned away at the door. For more information about Glenmere Mansion visit www.GlenmereMansion.com

The Chatwal - Midtown

Welcome to the mysterious world of boutique hotels. Boutique hotels are much smaller in the amount of rooms that they provide but make up for it their respective style, class and services. Chances are that you have walked past these upscale hotels and not even known it. And they like that.

New York City is the heart of the boutique hotel world. There are dozens of these hotels in all neighborhoods of Manhattan. A fine example of one of these hotels is midtown NYC’s The Chatwal, located on 130 West 44th street. Like many boutique hotels The Chatwal has a theme. Their theme is reviving the old elegance of New York City. While this may look silly on paper one step into the lobby will clear all doubts about this. Think 1930’s New York for a modern age.

The Chatwal is pure luxury. Each room’s amenities are top of the line as well as each guest getting access to a 24 hour gym as well as elegant pool. However this type of elegance doesn’t come cheap. In fact, it starts at over $500 a night with suites ranging to $5,000 a night. The more expensive rooms feature private decks overlooking midtown Manhattan as well as private entrances and exits. With features like these one can only imagine the clientele.

If you want a small taste of what The Chatwal has to offer I suggest you step into the bar and resteraunt that they own, NYC’s famed establishment The Lamb House. Here you will get a small taste of what is inside.
